plan and status

The Mutual Satellites tool is based on a concept of annotation-based modelling, invented by Lars Thorup. We have applied for a US patent on this invention.

The tool is being developed for use with Microsoft Visual Studio, handling the programming languages XAML, C# and SQL, then adding VB.NET. The product idea and the central part of the code will be applicable to a wide range of programming languages, and potentially several different development environments.

The proof-of-concept phase of the product is near completion. Now we are elaborating the tool, adding support for more and more programming language elements, and optimizing the engine.

We are aiming for a demonstration at OOPSLA 2006. We will demonstrate a version with full round-trip support for creating data entry applications with the following modelling features: multiple entities, relationships, single- and multivalued attributes and validations.

At that point in time will remain 9-12 months of product development efforts. Before starting marketing, we will conduct both a beta test and pilot projects of the tool.

We anticipate that the Mutual Satellites tool can be sold exclusively through web-based download, and exclusively in an English language version.
